Bolingey Barbarians v Roseland
12th Nov 2017
Bolingey Barbarians entertained Roseland for the first occasion and it proved to be a most memorable day.
The sheer numbers of Roseland players and supporters, the numbers of non playing Barbarians and their friends, new jerseys, new shorts, loads of replacements including the one that pretended injury before the match, the humour , the camaraderie, the closeness of the match, all of this will not be forgotten for a long time.
Before the match began a minute’s silence was observed as part of Remembrance Sunday, this was followed by thanking David Brunton, Construction Director Acorn, for their generous sponsorship of the new Bolingey shorts.
A bitter wind blew down the length of the pitch which dictated the play throughout the match.
Bolingey played with the wind in the first half and scored four tries, Tom Hinds (Camborne), Nick Faulkner 2 (Newquay) and Mike Laity (Lanner) to Roseland’s none.
After the interval, with the wind behind them, Roseland also scored four but Mike Laity crossed the visitors line for Bolingey’s fifth just before the final whistle.
