Bolingey Barbarians v Wadebridge/Bude
Sunday 17th February 2019
Bolingey Barbarians pre-match presentation to Curnow School Redruth.
The Bolingey Barbarians took to the field for the first time since the Christmas break, playing a joint side from Wadebridge and Bude.
Before the match a presentation was made to Caroline Jewell and Sam Murray from the Curnow School Redruth with a cheque for £1855. This money is going to buy a new class room medical hoist which enables them to transfer the children safely, head teacher Caroline said this equipment will make a great difference to the well being of the children.
The Barbarians fielded a very strong side which included two new caps, Dave Risdon and Josh Lord. Displaying some fine handling skills and impressive team work the Barbarians ran in eleven truly wonderful tries. Wadebridge and Bude put up a spirited opposition but failed to cross the line until the last minute of the match when Bude prop forward Barry Sobey used football skills to dribble the ball over the line for their only try of the match.
Although the Barbarians had no fixtures in January they did have the annual visit to the Mennaye, this year witnessing the Cornish Pirates match against Hartpury College.
The Barbarians made a half time collection and wish to thank the rugby family and the Pirates supporters who gave so generously on the day, total collected £710.91.
The Barbarians next match is on Sunday 10th March, KO 1pm, when they take on Helston veterans at Perranporth RFC. Please come along, all welcome.
