Bude v Bolingey Barbarians
Sunday 25th September 2022

A fantastic start to our season, an away day to Bude RFC.
This was the first time the Barbarians have played at Bude and what a day it was. With a welcoming drink of port and some cheese, always a good way to begin.
Then the game, which was kicked off by new Barbarian, Mark Vickery. With both sides having good numbers of players, it turned into a very competitive game with flowing rugby from both sides. With rolling subs which helped some ageing bodies.
With one player turning out for both sides we welcomed another new Barbarian, Phil Vickery, now adding the Bolingey Barbarians to his rugby CV.
The match ended in a draw and was very fitting for the occasion.
We then started the third half, nourished with a lovely hog roast. And served by the hard-working ladies of the club, both in the kitchen and behind the bar, they are a credit to Bude Club.
Ties were presented By David Driver our President, to the following new Barbarians, Mark Vickery, Paul Wheeler, Wayne Reed, Jim Payton and Phil Vickery.
We then held a raffle and auction, thanks to Phil for signing some of his shirts. And the generosity of those donating the prizes that helped make a total raised on the day of £3101.31.
This was followed with some very nice words from Phil; proud to be part of his home club Bude RFC.
The day continued with singing by Cousin Jacks enjoyed by all. With the bus calling and a long drive home, it was time to bid farewell to all at Bude who made this a Bolingey day to Remember.
Our thanks to all at Bude RFC for their ongoing support of the Bolingey Barbarains and to all the Barbarians that travelled from one end of Cornwall to the other in the name of enjoyment.
